Belle and Sebastian will lead a four-day Mediterranean cruise and music festival that sets sail from 8th to 12th August 8th next year. The trek voyage will be known as the Boaty Weekender in honor the 20th anniversary of the band’s 1999 festival, Bowlie Weekender. The cruise will eclipse the price tag of other indie festivals with places starting at £849 per person.

The cruise will include live performances across five stages with lineups curated by Belle and Sebastian. The bill will feature a mix of classic and emerging artists, though none have been announced yet. Fans can register for pre-sale access to staterooms through the Boaty Weekender website.

“Just last week, Sixthman, the company responsible for organising numerous successful theme cruises for the North American market, announced that it is coming to the UK next summer with a music sailing featuring Belle & Sebastian” the latest release proclaims.

“Dubbed the ‘Boaty Weekender’, the four-night voyage from August 8 – 12, 2019 on Norwegian Jade from Barcelona to Sardinia – will include Q&A sessions with Belle & Sebastian, as well as performances by the band and supporting acts that have not yet been announced.

“Other B & S activities include: themed parties, group activities and opportunities to purchase merchandise, as well as extras – such as a special, exclusive B & S performance and keepsake vinyl for the first 350 passengers to book cabins.

“It’s not surprising that themed music sailings are gaining in popularity, since they offer an intensive, total immersion experience into the music that truly rocks your boat – combined with all the resort-like amenities of a cruise ship and the excitement of travelling to a number of exciting, new places.

Belle and Sebastian will deliver two performances during the Boaty Weekender, while those that book one of the first 350 staterooms will be treated to a special performance of Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant in its entirety. The band will also host an intimate conversation with fans and partake in other various activities.

The Boaty Weekender will depart from Barcelona and travel to Cagliari, Sardinia in Italy. Along with music, the trip will include activities such as yoga, club nights, Scrabble tournaments, themed balls, crechés and quizzes.

In February, Belle and Sebastian released the final installment of their EP trilogy, How to Solve Our Human Problems. The group are currently on a North American tour.
