Biffy Clyro have secured their second UK number one album with their seventh release Ellipsis. The album sold a combined total of 37,000 copies, after sales and streaming data were added together.

The band last hit the top of the album chart with Opposites, released in 2013.

Earlier this week they were in Glasgow performing at a sell-out gig in HMV Argyle Street which saw Simon Neil and James and Ben Johnston play a selection of new tracks. Lead singer Simon has described Ellipsis as “more of a punch to the nose than a big cuddle.”

Biffy Clyro will appear at Bellahouston Park for Glasgow Summer Sessions on 27th August.

The line-up also includes Fall Out Boy, Wolf Alice and Cage The Elephant, while the day before Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will headline, with support from Richard Ashcroft and Johnny Marr.
