Pop-Up sensation Ramen Dayo is now a permanent bar and restaurant on Queen Street. Last December, they made a eye-catching entry into the Glasgow food scene when they took over a covered lane in Gordon Street and converted it into a scene from a Tokyo back-alley, complete with lanterns, a Yatai cart and Japanese bar snacks.
They moved to Le Cheetah bar to continue their menu and now return to the street food model at 25 Queen Street.
Hearty bowls of ramen are prepared from scratch with variations on a rich, creamy pork broth with springy noodles, chashu pork belly, marinated kirkurage mushrooms, nori seaweed, egg and spring onions. It is the real deal and already has a cult following. They also have a selection of delicious gyoza dumplings.
They open this weekend from 11am till late. There will be an updated cocktail list, weekend brunch options and tunes. The kitchen will also be testing out some dishes to update the menu which will be finalised by the end of next week.
Jackmaster and fellow Numbers DJ Spencer were the driving-force behind Ramen Dayo, alongside another founding member of Numbers, Paul Beveridge, who was inspired by 11 years living in Japan.
