We can’t delay this conversation any longer. If you’ve got kids at home, you’ll know that the minute pumpkins and Halloween costumes have been packed away, the mad scramble to book a visit to Santa ensues. Of course, you could just join the queue at the nearest shopping centre grotto, but if you’re looking for something a bit different this December, we have rounded up the most outstanding options within reach of Glasgow.

1. Balfron Station

“Santa’s Woodland Experience” in Balfron Station at the edge of Loch Lomond National Park has become one of the best known Santa experiences aroud Glasgow. As a result, popular dates get booked early so move quickly if you fancy enjoying the tractor ride to Santa’s cabin in the woods this year.

2.Three Sisters Bake in Quarriers Village and Killearn

With designers Lemonbox Studios on board to transform the cafes into winter wonderlands, Three Sisters Bake is bound to be worth a visit this December. The sisters’ are well known for their creative events and the line up this festive season does not disappoint.

While Santa will not be appearing in person, the Little Elves Crafternoon Tea and Storytime Brunch with Mrs Claus will offer quirky, festive fun. Well worth checking out with your wee ones.

3. Snow Factor

You can’t really compete with actual snow at Christmas time and, of course, Snow Factor at Soar (Intu Braehead) have it by the sledge load. Their Dine with Santa experience includes a breakfast, lunch, or dinner with Santa, plus a gift, a short story reading from Santa himself, plus 30 minutes of sledging.

Follow a magical Santa Trail through Finlaystone’s never ending acres of woodland to reach the Grotto. Artificial snow provides a picture-perfect festive experience that the kids will love. While you are there, Finlaystone also have a Christmas tree forest where you can pick out your own tree and take it home.

5. Falkirk Wheel

Fancy travelling to meet Santa by boat? Then this is the experience to sign up for. Boat trips up the canal at the Falkirk Wheel to Santa’s Grotto kick off on December 16th. Santa comes aboard the boat with gifts for children, dancing and singing with the Elf Team, and get your picture taken with Santa.
