Makar is a small batch gin distilled seven times to develop its distinctive, juniper-led smoothness in a copper pot still called Annie, right here in Glasgow.
They have recently released a new expression – Makar Old Tom which is their own interpretation of a traditional style of gin that dates back to the 18th Century and tastes great with lashings of tonic and a wedge of orange.
The bold juniper of Makar is complemented with orange peel, almonds and finished with a little honey to give a slightly sweeter taste that is perfect for classic cocktails like the Tom Collins and Martinez.
Glasgowist challenged Makar to come up with a spring cocktail, so they teamed up with Gin 71 to use Old Tom in this seasonal beauty.
Recreate a fruity classic at home or let them pour you one from the bar in the Merchant City. It’s Friday after all..
