An Afternoon Tea With Jarvis Cocker in Helensburgh. This is quite the thing. The Pulp frontman will be the very special guest at a Cafe Improv event at the Tower Digital Arts Centre on 4th December.
Known for his mid-set soliloquys during his Britpop pomp, when Pulp was one of the coolest bands on the planet, it was a natural move for Jarvis to become a radio presenter in recent years, while still finding the time to throw some shapes on festival stages or pop up for impromptu DJ sets.
His latest performance will be a suitably distinctive one. Cafe Improv, curated by Sushil K Dade – Future Pilot AKA of the Soup Dragons, Telstar Ponies and BMX Bandits – are bringing Jarvis to Helensburgh for afternoon tea and a chat.
Jarvis will then introduce a screening of Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, for reasons that we’re sure will become evident.
Fellow BMX Bandit Duglas T Stewart will play a DJ set, while Scottish folk musician James Yorkston will perform. What a deliciously odd line-up. If you like the vibe, tickets are £16 ticket and include Chai tea and samosas.
Tickets are on sale this Sunday (4th September) from Helensburgh Box Office.
