Revised plans for a student housing project on High Street show it will be taller than originally proposed. The new proposals submitted by ADF Architects and Structured House Group show the Merchant Point building will now be 15-storeys, higher than the 12-storey plan lodged with Glasgow City Council earlier this year.
Following discussions with the council, the prominent corner elevation has been rounded off to provide a softer view on the George Street junction. There have also been provisions to retain part of the Old College Bar, one of the oldest pubs in Glasgow. A retail element will still be included on the ground floor levels while a decked roof garden is now added to the student accommodation.
