Hutchesons is having a makeover this summer. Opened as a glamorous bar and restaurant by owners James and Louise Rusk, the venue was the culmination of an ambitious transformation for one of the Merchant City’s most distinctive buildings.
Having established its reputation as a fashionable destination and the flagship restaurant of the Rusk & Rusk group, Hutchesons will have a refresh. James Rusk told Glasgowist: “for us, it’s about making sure we never rest on our laurels. Hutchesons has been a massive hit in its formative years, and in order for us to continue that success, we need to make sure we are constantly evolving with the times and we see now as the perfect opportunity to create a new-look Hutchesons”.
The changes will include a renovation of the main dining room which will be renamed Hutchesons City Grill. The new menu will include excellent steak, including a wider range of cuts.
Downstairs, the Champagne & Oyster Bar will become The 158 Club Lounge, with a revamped cocktails and drinks list. “Hutchesons has become the leading outlet for Champagne in Scotland, with our events and parties causing a splash as far away as London, and we’ll continue to do so. We have an affinity with Champagne, in particular Veuve Clicquot, and we’re excited to further cement ourselves as one of the UK’s leading Champagne sellers” Louise Rusk explained.
The refurbishments will take place over a two week period in mid-July and will be complete in time for the launch of this year’s Merchant City Festival on Friday July 21st.
