Some of the best local independent street food traders set up every Friday, Saturday and Sunday within the refurbished Argyle Street Arches, part of the substructure Central Station.
The organisers explain their mission statement, saying: “In a city saturated with fast food and chain restaurants, Platform offers a fiercely independent alternative to generic, mass produced foods. All traders adhere to Scotland’s Food Charter for Events, which means produce is locally and sustainably sourced, seasonal, free range and fair trade. It also means it’s a whole lot tastier.”
Food is served from 12pm until 10pm every Friday and Saturday, and 12-6pm on Sunday. Everything is available to either sit-in and enjoy, or to grab and go. Kids portions are available at a reduced price and there is a dedicated area for them to play.
Glasgowist visited today for lunch. We spotted tasty food being served up by Fritti, Fujisan, ShrimpWreck, Box Office Pizza, Tiny Dancers Slider Pantry, Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, Freddy & Hicks, Fat Stacks Pancake Co, Chunk’s Ice Cream and Three Sisters Bake.
Tomorrow the street food traders will be joined by over 50 craft market stalls showcasing vintage clothes, antiques, art, menswear, womenswear, childrens clothes and toys, plants and flowers, design, fresh produce, jewellery, beauty products and homeware.
You’ll find Platform underneath the Hielanman’s Umbrella at 253 Argyle Street.
