This weekend, a pop-up marketplace will takeover the five floors of The Lighthouse on Mitchell Lane. The I.D. Store will be an alternative department store where creatives of all different backgrounds will gather to for a quirky shopping experience within one of Scotland’s most important design centres.
The set-up for I.D. Store will include:
Ground floor: Jewellers offering new designs and methods of making.
First floor: Home interior designers will have the space to recreate their ideal home. This space has been planned to create a homely environment for customers to get an idea of how these products will work in their personal spaces.
Second floor: Boutique for fashion designers. Here customers will be able to meet the designers and be inspired, seeing the pieces on offer either displayed on mannequins or rails, try on pieces in the prepared changing room.
Third floor: Children’s department. Here there will be room for products that engage and delight our younger customers. This can be anything from toys and colouring books to clothes and wearable items.
Fourth-floor corridor: Fashion conscious male customers – a certain demography lacking presence in markets. We are looking to make this area a space where customers can expect to see male particularly styled clothes, accessories, beard oils and distractions for the man kind. On this floor we will also have our Design, Vintage and Craft Market Place.
Fifth floor: Although reserved for the cafe, we will include for sale pre-wrapped food items here. Traders offering food for the eyes, nose and tongue, yum! Chocolates, pastries and producers of savoury goods are encouraged to bring tasters and sell their food to be taken away.
I.D. Store will take place on 15th and 16th July, then return in September and the weekends in December before Christmas. The events are organised with market specialists Granny Would Be Proud.
