In hugely positive news for Glasgow’s small independent businesses, a new twice monthly market will be held at the revitalised Argyle Street Arches. It will run alongside food market Platform, which has brought new flavours to the city centre.
Visitors to Super Market can shop at a selection of independent retailers from across the city and beyond including some of the best stallholders from Glasgow Vintage & Flea Market, in this famous location right next to Central Station.
With over 50 stalls the event is set to become one of the biggest monthly markets in the city with stalls showcasing “Vintage, Antiques, Art, Menswear, Womenswear, Childrens Clothes & toys, Plants & Flowers, Design, Fresh Produce & Food, Jewellery, Beauty Products and Homeware” accompanied by a retro soundtrack.
There will also be a number of workshops which will be held at the Super Market for adults and kids, to kickstart Glasgow creativity.
The markets will run two Sundays a month at Argyle Street Arches, 253 Argyle Street, starting on Sunday 3rd June 11am – 5pm. The event is family and dog friendly.
Suggested entry donation is £1 per person with 50% of this profit going to a local charity – The Glasgow Markets have raised over £1500 for local charities already this year including Give a Dog a Bone, Glasgow City Mission, Indepen-Dance, The Space, Glasgow Womens Aid and next up is CHAS (Childrens Hospices Across Scotland) with its next Glasgow Vintage & Flea Market at Saint Lukes on May Day Monday 7th May.
Applications are still being taken for stallholders – you can chat to Kelly at kelly@theglasgowmarkets.com or visit their website for more info.
