It’s been an outstanding summer for music in Glasgow. A procession of the biggest acts in the world have graced stages across the city while festivals bathed in sunshine have punctuated most weekends. Long may it continue.
We do music well. Crowds are enthusiastic participants, not casual bystanders. Visiting acts are well recieved but there’s plenty going on right here in Glasgow. It’s exciting to see bars and wee venues light up with the same viscaral energy you’ll see at stadium gigs for headliners.
There’s a depth to the talent and genres that constitute Glasgow music.
Tonight Glasgowist is going to see local act Paul Gemmell and the Black Magic Blues Band play an eclectic mix of big, funky original songs and New Orleans big band style covers.
The gig is in Stereo and it starts at 7pm. Support is from Rob Muir. Tickets are £8. See you at the bar.
