Hospitality and lifestyle group, Rusk & Rusk is celebrating this week after landing four award nominations. The newest restaurant in the RUSK & RUSK portfolio, The Spanish Butcher on Miller Street, is taking on four top London venues to be named best restaurant in the UK at the prestigious GQ Food & Drink Awards.
The Spanish Butcher in the Merchant City will be facing competition from Westerns Laundry, Core by Clare Smyth, Native and The Barbary, all in London.
It’s not the first time The Spanish Butcher has been recognised in illustrious company; in 2017 the venue was highlighted as one of the best new restaurants in the world by the influential CNN Travel and featured alongside some of the most exciting restaurants around the globe.
The Spanish Butcher is owned and operated by Co-Founders James and Louise Rusk, alongside Hutchesons City Grill on Ingram Street and The Butchershop Bar and Grill in the West End.
Louise Rusk said: “This is huge for us. Opening The Spanish Butcher was all about pushing the boundaries of the Scottish food scene, so naturally we are very excited and honoured to be recognised as one of the great restaurants in the UK by GQ magazine.
“Our team at Spanish Butcher work extremely hard day in, day out to offer our diners something completely different and this nomination is testament to that work and passion.
James Rusk continued: “It’s such an exciting time for us at RUSK & RUSK, and we are extremely proud of the GQ nomination. We have built strong relationships with our suppliers and quality underpins everything we do. The Spanish Butcher has a great depth and authenticity to it, and our team work tirelessly to showcase this.”
Opening its doors in December 2016, The Spanish Butcher is known for its steak and seafood dishes, serving the finest grades of Galician Beef, premium Iberico Jamon and seafood infused with Spanish and Mediterranean flavours.
But the Spanish Butcher is about more than just food. The chic, modern interior takes inspiration from New York’s dining scene to deliver quintessential style along with vibrant cuisine.
The GQ nomination comes on the back of two other nominations for the Glasgow business in a matter of weeks.
The Spanish Butcher has also recently been nominated for Most Stylish Restaurant at this year’s Scottish Style Awards. Meanwhile, the 158 Club Lounge at Hutchesons is in the running for Most Stylish Bar.
The Scottish Style Awards will be a glittering ceremony at Kelvingrove Art Galleries on 31 March.
In addition James and Louise Rusk are nominated in The Nods the Creative Entrepreneur of The Year category. The Nods are a set of creative awards that recognise and celebrate great work, organisations and people in Scotland. Winners will be announced on 26 April.
