Scotland’s best music forms the basis of the playlist at a new club night in The Admiral, Simply Thrilled. The next one takes place on Saturday 28th July. Local heroes are to the fore in pop culture right now. In Edinburgh we have the Rip It Up exhibition, a fascinating display of our shared alternative music history leading up to today. The BBC are showing Big Gold Dream and Scotland’s Music with Phil Cunningham again celebrating the rich musical heritage of Caledonia.
Also, recently acclaimed films such as Lost in France, From Scotland With Love and Aidan Moffat’s glorious Where You’re Meant To Be have all shone a spotlight on the records that have rolled out of this nation.
So Simply Thrilled steps forward, after ten years of the successful Strangeways night in the Waterloo Street bar.
Expect a diverse selection of tunes that dives into a back catalogue including The Bluebells, The Pastels, Mogwai, BMX Bandits, The Jesus and Mary Chain. Organisers told Glasgowist: “We want the citizens of Glasgow to join us as we bring Scotland’s music all wrapped up to the people. We want to be that night in amongst the amazing gigs that explode throughout this land that brings all those sounds of alternative Scotland together because no one else is doing it and it’s wonderful.”
Tickets are £5. Find out more here.
