Still no star but Glasgow has two Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants

2nd October 2017 by Paul Trainer

Glasgow has two mentions in the new selection of the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland, which highlights a total of 2,067 restaurants and 1,155 hotels and guesthouses. The reviewers have withheld a star rating from the city’s finest chefs yet again, however The Gannet has been awarded Bib Gourmand status alongside Ox and Finch. Stravaigin has not retained its Bib status in the new guide.

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland features 27 new Bib Gourmands – which are chosen for their good quality and good value cooking. This year the new Bib Gourmands include Kricket and Kiln in Soho, London. In Ireland there are six new Bibs, including Two Cooks in Sallins and Kai in Galway. In Wales there’s the Hare & Hounds in Aberthin; and Noble in Holywood, Northern Ireland. There was no new Scottish restaurants in this section.

Loch Bay restaurant in Stein on the Isle of Skye was the only restaurant in Scotland to be given a new one Michelin Star rating. In total, 150 restaurants have one Michelin Star this year, including 17 new ones.

The guide can be purchased from all good bookshops and at the Michelin website. It’s published today and will be in bookshops from Thursday 5th October.
