Glasgow is doughnuts daft. Always has been. It’s not a fad or a trend. We are committed. So when Tantrum Doughnuts, the brainchild of Iain Baillie (former Pastry Chef at The Fat Duck, One Devonshire Gardens, Gleneagles Hotel, Ox and Finch) and his wife, Annika began making pop-up appearances, they attracted a crowd. Then came a shop on Old Dumbarton Road, which opened in December 2015 and has become a firm favourite in the neighbourhood.
For their next trick, Tantrum are bringing their best doughnuts to the city centre.
The new location will be on Gordon Street, close to Central Station, next door to the Riverhill Coffee Bar.
Brioche dough doughnuts, hand-made in small batches, then smothered, filled or glazed with home-made custards, fondants, purées, compotes and jams, their selection changes when new ingredients become available from local suppliers.
Tantrum serve a colourful procession of fun. Soon, you’ll be able to find them close to the Merchant City. More information when we have it.
In the meantime, here’s some pictures of doughnuts.
