The group behind world-famous London restaurant and celebrity-hangout The Ivy have confirmed plans to open a brasserie in Glasgow in spring 2018. The Ivy Collection is in the planning process for a space at 106 Buchanan Street, currently occupied by Nationwide Building Society, close to Royal Exchange Square.
The original restaurant in Covent Garden has a reputation for catering to London’s theatre stars and visiting actors. The Ivy brand is expanding to other UK cities and recently opened in Edinburgh. The plans for the new brasserie in Glasgow city centre are expected to create 150 new jobs.
The conversion of the building will include a bar and restaurant on the ground floor with a second restaurant space on the first floor.
In a statement this week to Glasgowist, the Ivy Collection confirmed an anticipated spring 2018 opening date.
“As of November 2017, The Ivy Collection has entered the planning process for a space on 106 Buchanan ST, Glasgow, G1 2NB, to open a brasserie in spring 2018. The restaurant will feature an all-day dining menu and will be open 7 days a week.
“The Ivy Collection is a group of restaurants, brasseries and cafés, established in London and now growing regionally across the UK, offering accessible, all-day dining for locals and visitors alike. Each location is carefully handpicked to value, reflect and add to the local area.”
