Those who already know the cooking of chef Nico Simeone and the team at his Kelvinside restaurant will be exceptionally excited to know that his new concept restaurant Six by Nico has confirmed it will open at 1132 Argyle Street on Tuesday 14th March.
In a crowded cluster of food show-offs, they will do their best to stand out from the crowd with a a bold promise.
Essentially, Six by Nico will be a new restaurant every six weeks – very appropriate for the ever-changing Argyle Street strip.
What this means in practice is that there will be a six-course tasting menu, priced at £25 per person – themed around a different place, memory or idea.
After the six weeks are up, the menu moves on to a new story and set of flavours. Think of it as a rolling roster of pop-ups curated by the same team.
To start, Nico is reaching back through his family history to draw out a menu inspired by a traditional fish and chip shop.
The Chippie menu will be served from 14th March to Sunday 23rd April.
We’ve had a look at what dishes will be served:
Chips & Cheese – crisp potato cannelloni with crowdie mousse
Scampi – Scrabster monkfish cheek, squid ink and herb emulsion
Steak Pie – Speyside beef shin, onion choucroute and brioche
Special Fish – Shetland cod with sea vegetable, pickled mussels and taramasalata
Smoked Sausage – Ayrshire pork with black pudding, apple and celeriac
Deep Fried Mars Bar – salted caramel, chocolate nougat, malt parfait
