TRNSMT hosted a secret festival pop-up event this week, gathering artists set to take to the Main Stage and King Tut’s Powered by Utilita Energy Stage at Glasgow Green in just four weeks time.
The artists performed covers of fellow TRNSMT artists, whilst the festival simultaneously announced that the city’s most exciting food market joins the TRNSMT 2018 line-up with ten traders from Platform at the Argyle Street Arches set to raise the bar for festival food this summer season.
Acts at the event included Phil Campbell from The Temperance Movement, Nina Nesbitt, Fatherson, Kyle Falconer, The Snuts, Catholic Action, The Ninth Wave, The Amorettes, and LUCIA.
They will all join TRNSMT headliners Stereophonics, Liam Gallagher, Arctic Monkeys, Queen + Adam Lambert, and The Killers at the five day Scottish extravaganza from 29th June – 1st July plus 6th July and 8th July this summer.
The festival features Arctic Monkey’s only UK festival appearance, plus the debut of rising stars like Sigrid, Pale Waves, Marmozets, IAMDDB, Sam Fender, Dermot Kennedy and much more. Tickets are on sale now here.
There were also exclusive covers of headline acts Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics and Liam Gallagher plus Nina Nesbitt delivered a stripped-back version of her latest singles Somebody Special and The Best You Had.
The event marked the launch of TRNSMT’s official street food offering on-site – Platform on Tour, providing an exciting new aspect to TRNSMT 2018 and making the festival a world-class experience for music, food and drinks this summer. Five of the Platform traders recently recognised at the British Street Food Awards.
Artists at the event were given a sneak peek at food on offer from venders including Box Office Artisan Pizza and Tiny Dancer’s Slider Pantry. TRNSMT’s food offerings will include Fatboys, bringing the taste of New Orleans straight to Glasgow city centre with their Creole Cajun inspired menu, Babu Bombay Street Kitchen for Glasgow’s favourite Indian-Scottish food with a twist, plus veggies and vegans are well-served with Freddy and Hicks’ unmissable menu. Completing Platform on Tour at TRNSMT’s line-up are Chick and Pea, Fat Stacks Pancake Co., Ginger and Chilli, ShrimpWreck and Thomson’s Coffee Roasters.
Speaking at the festival pop-up, promoter Geoff Ellis said: “With only four weeks to go until TRNSMT, today’s event has showcased just how much talent there is in Scotland’s music industry, and we can’t wait to provide the perfect setting for them all at TRNSMT. Watching Fatherson’s cover of Stereophonics, Kyle Falconer’s Oasis rendition and The Ninth Wave covering fellow local band Catholic Action were great preparation for this year’s festival! We’re delighted to announce PLATFORM ON TOUR at TRNSMT this year and I’m really excited to add a whole new experience to the festival this year through some of the best street food Scotland has to offer, making TRNSMT the number one stop for world-class music and food.”
