TRNSMT 2018 has one of the busiest festival lineups in the country, so with only one week to go until the festival brings international stars to Glasgow Green – here is your essential guide to this year’s festival.
AFTER THE PARTY COMES THE AFTERPARTY
Kicking off the official TRNSMT afterparties are Irish chart-toppers The Academic on Friday 29th June, followed by the incredible Fatherson, making their return to the much-loved King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on Saturday 30th June. The Temperance Movement will continue their festival high following their Main Stage performance ahead of headliners Queen + Adam Lambert by popping in for an intimate party on 6th July!
These exclusive midnight shows are open to TRNSMT ticket buyers on general sale at 10am on Monday 25th June.
AN OPENING WEEKEND OF INCREDIBLE MUSIC
Fresh from a huge UK stadium tour, Welsh icons Stereophonics claim the headline slot on the opening day of the festival on Friday 29th June for what is set to be another phenomenal performance. With album sales hitting platinum 17 times, Stereophonics have the huge hits to back up their effortless quality and will undoubtedly show their class and talent at TRNSMT this year.
Nothing quite beats being in a field with your mates hearing your favourite song played live and TRNSMT’s opening day will have no shortage of memorable moments to last a lifetime. From Irish rockers The Script, to James Bay, Jessie J and Tom Walker over on the King Tut’s Powered by Utilita Stage, Friday 29th June will be an opening day to remember with the incredible TRNSMT audience.
Saturday 30th June is all about the Rock ‘n’ Roll stars and leading the way is TRNSMT headliner Liam Gallagher. This sold out show is set to be a special one for the rock superstar, returning to the city where he was first spotted and signed by local label boss Alan McGee. Expect the atmosphere to be electric when Courteeners make their debut performance at TRNSMT Festival, whilst Wolf Alice and seasoned indie rockers Shed Seven also appear on the Main Stage on Saturday 30th June, a day that is sure to go down in TRNSMT history.
Sunday 1st July sees one of the biggest bands in the world return to Scotland after four years, armed with a groundbreaking new album. Arctic Monkeys make their only UK festival appearance this summer heading the Main Stage to ask TRNSMT if they look good on the dancefloor. Alex Turner and co will be joined by the mighty Interpol, having reformed and returned to the studio over the last two years while Sunday’s line-up also features Blossoms, Nothing But Thieves, Miles Kane and Tom Grennan who’ll provide the ultimate party atmosphere against the amazing backdrop of Glasgow Green.
MUSIC ICONS COMES TO SCOTLAND
TRNSMT’s second weekend is sure to get off to a singalong start as Friday 6th July sees Queen + Adam Lambert bring one of rock’s most iconic acts to Glasgow Green, alongside Scottish heroes Texas and The Temperance Movement, glam rockers The Darkness and Alabama 3. Playing their first ever Scottish festival date, Queen + Adam Lambert will showcase one of the biggest rock attractions in the world right now with a show that will prove why they are still the champions.
Closing the festival two days later are The Killers, one of the most consistently incredible live bands on the planet. It’s been a full World Cup since the band last played an outdoor show in Glasgow and we’re sure that once again, Brandon and co will have Scotland well and truly looking on the bright side. There’s also no shortage of Scottish homegrown talent taking to the Main Stage on the closing day of TRNSMT, as CHVRCHES and Franz Ferdinand bring the party to their ever-energetic home crowd in Glasgow.
