Chompsky food truck arriving on Kelvin Way

18th September 2016 by Paul Trainer

Chompsky have found a permanent home for the food truck. The quirky street food brand have been serving up international bites like Korean soft buns and spicy wraps in Edinburgh and Glasgow, popping up in various locations, including most recently at Taste Buchanan in Buchanan Galleries.

Now, the food truck will be a regular fixture on Kelvin Way, close to the University of Glasgow.

Glasgow needs more street food and markets. Making our outdoor spaces more interesting and increasing the supply of cheap, delicious dishes to enjoy on the go will make the city a better place. Hopefully this will not be the last we have heard of food trucks arriving in our neighbourhoods.

Chompsky made the announcement on Facebook, saying:

“The big day has finally arrived. On a weekend that in the future will no doubt become a public holiday, we will be launching Glasgow’s first legitimate street food truck for public consumption.

And this time we are not going anywhere. Those used to us only popping up for a couple of days will be glad to know that our pitch on Kelvin Way is our new permanent home. We are there to stay.

Many of you have followed our Serpico-esque campaign to give Glasgow’s tastebuds the justice they deserve (thanks once again to Glasgow City Council for being so receptive to change, so unfailingly helpful and so appreciative of the finer things). Now the license is granted and we will be setting up for the very first time on Kelvin Way (the University side) on the dates above.

There will be music. There will be delicious food. There could be fireworks. There may be a marching band. Truth is – we don’t actually know what there will be yet. But if you are hungry and in the area – we would love to see you.

Stay tuned for details of what we will be cooking up in the next couple of weeks.”

The food truck is expected to be serving food from 30th September onwards.
