Spitfire Espresso has been around for just over two years. It occupies one of the great vantage points in the Merchant City, across from Ramshorn Theatre building and with a view of some of the new apartment buildings that triggered the next stage of a redevelopment on nearby streets. They are a friendly bunch and serve up an excellent cup of coffee, with a smile and an easy line of conversation.
The music speaker above the door supplies a do-wop, bopping, rockabilly soundtrack that may be a bit much to take depending on your mood. It will wake you up in the morning, alongside their black pudding and scrambled eggs, or one of their breakfast bagels.
At lunch, select from a bundle of sandwiches, or peruse the cake stand to select your sweet treat of choice. Spitfire secured a licence to sell alcohol in December so there may be more evening drinks available on the menu soon.
