Trainspotting actor Ewan Bremner will play Glasgow music manager Alan McGee in Creation Stories, a new biopic written by Dean Cavanagh and Irvine Welsh. Danny Boyle will act as executive producer.

Filming begins this week on the movie project that will chronicle McGee’s Creation Records, founded in 1983 and home to acts including Oasis, Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine until its end in 1999.
Based on McGee’s memoir, The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves and Running a Label, the cast also includes Rupert Everett and Suki Waterhouse.
The label boss was at Glasgow’s Blythswood Hotel last week where he met with actors Jack Paterson and Gerry Knotts, who will play Primal Scream guitarist Andrew Innes and Bobby Gillespie’s dad Bob.
The role of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is currently being cast.
The film is expected to include scenes based on McGee’s early management of The Jesus and Mary Chain, his friendship with Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie and the moment he signed Oasis after seeing them perform at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in 1993.
