The Alchemist, a new city centre bar and restaurant will open on Friday 23 December. The launch brings the independent cocktail group’s theatre served drinks philosophy and molecular mixology alongside dishes like crispy curried fish, rib-eye steak surf ‘n’ turf with tempura prawns, shredded hoisin duck salad and cotton candy baked Alaska.
Based on George Square, the 5,594 square feet venue will serve up to 260 customers within a modern, celestial inspired interior that includes a Moon Room.

Drinks on the Glasgow menu include Cherry Poppins – a fruity gin-based concoction topped with a cherry fog bubble – and the Colour Changing One – which promises a heady mix of Grey Goose Vodka, Briottet Apple, soda, fresh citrus and some added magic.

The new £1.6 million bar is the second Scottish venue for The Alchemist, which has expanded from beginnings in Manchester, following on from opening last year in Edinburgh’s St James’ Quarter.
Jenny McPhee, Brand Director, said: ‘The opening of our celestial George Square bar and restaurant marks a wondrous new leap for The Alchemist in Scotland.
“A cosmopolitan city with an unmistakable edge, we think Glaswegians will feel right at home in our bar that adds a new frontier to the city’s cocktail scene.”
