Liberté Bar departed abruptly but that bar-shaped hole in the pantheon of Charing Cross entertainment venues was swiftly filled By Sualdo’s, a Mexican summer pop-up from the people behind the nearby Berkelely Suite and Bananamoon on Great Western Road. A seat in the beer garden to the back was a prized commodity when the sun was shining.
Now a more permanent identity has been assumed by the bar as The Gin Rickey, complete with plush leather booths and 77 varieties of gin, is now open.
It comes from the Tabac and Panther Milk team, which means it has a fine pedigree.
Early news: Alongside the gin, at the bar there’s eight draught beers and cider, plus interesting varieties of rum and tequila. Their lunch menu is available from 12-4pm for only £8.
The Gin Rickey will have a 1am opening on Friday and Saturday, with DJs from 8pm. Have a first look at the pictures below to see what to expect.
