8th June 2019 by Paul Trainer

Drawing comparisons with early Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and Oasis, West Lothian quartet The Snuts have emerged as a word-of-mouth phenomenon. The will bring raw energy and growing catalogue of indie anthems to the King Tut’s stage at TRNSMT this summer.

We have Five Quick Questions.

Has the way you write music together changed since you first started out?

Our writing process has definitely developed as we’ve grown up together. We’re constantly trying new beats and changing vibes up to keep our sound fresh.

The guitars, bass and drum combo has been done a thousand times and I think you can hear that in a lot of music at the minute.

It’s our goal to change that.

You’ve a busy summer ahead. Do you find festivals a good way to win over more people to your sound?

Festivals have always been our bread and butter, we grew up with T in the Park, The Wickerman and Rockness on our door stop so they were definitely staples of our music consumption.

Getting to play them now is just the natural progression.

There’s always plenty new ears to win over and we go out with a point to prove. Filling tents and stages is rewarding because you know you have to work for it.

The Snuts performed in LA earlier this year

There’s all sorts of young Scottish musicians making a push for greatness at the moment, do you tend to bump into each other when you are out on the touring circuit?

A lot of festivals have the same faces so you meet a lot of people from home and further a field.

Notable mentions for Mark Sharp and the Bicycle Thieves, Lucia, Ninth Wave and Vida.

Then there’s Lewis [Capaldi], but he’s global!

Are there plans to release more music in the coming months?

All Your Friends has gone down a storm, and we’re constantly writing, so expect more serious beats soon.

What can we expect from your set at TRNSMT?

Massive sound coupled with a mass army of mad Snuts fans: something pretty special.

Last year was insane and we only look to improve on all aspects. E

xpect a set people will talk about as a defining moment for the festival.
