The Van T’s are a West of Scotland four-piece comprised of Chloe Van Thompson (vocals, guitar), Hannah Van Thompson (vocals guitar), Joanne Forbes (bass) and Shaun Hood (drums).
After creating a stir in 2015 with a bold and noisy surf-rock sound showcased on the EP Laguna Babe, The Van T’s made a swift return with their follow up EP A Coming of Age.
Appearances at TRNSMT, Electric Fields and Tenement Trail followed as the band brought their sunny 50’s jukebox style melodies mixed with a twist of cathartic 90’s grunge to a wider audience.
More recently they’ve toured extensively, won awards, released singles and become well-reviewed regulars on the Glasgow music circuit.
On Saturday 17th August, The Van T’s will support headliners The Foo Fighters at Bellahouston Park alongside Slaves, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and Hot Milk. You can find out more information on Summer Sessions here.
We had Five Quick Questions.
What does it mean to be on the same stage as The Foo Fighters?
I’m sure a lot of people know what this means, musician or not.
Like most, we are huge fans. It really is one to tell the grandkids.
I’ve seen them before and I even bought tickets to go see them at this show.
Then a few months later we were asked to join the bill. So as you can imagine we are all insanely excited.
You are fast becoming festival favourites, is it still something you look forward to each year?
That’s very nice thank you.
Definitely, there’s just something different about a festival show. I feel like we play to new crowds at festivals and it’s something more fresh about it.
We do have a lot of our fans that come to our festival shows. So far we have seen a lot more mosh pits and dancing for this years festival shows.
It’s great to see the crowd interacting so well with our songs, truly blessed.
Also you can’t beat the sunshine and a G&T.
Do you feel like you are part of a wider collective of Glasgow talent right now? What other bands are your pals?
Glasgow’s talent is so diverse right now and it is most definitely wide. I’d never thought I’d be so proud to be a part of something.
I feel like Glasgow has got its different scenes which I feel is a good thing so there’s something for everyone.
Everyone’s our pals, if they let us.
