Food and Makers Market Joins Platform at Argyle St Arches Every Weekend

19th May 2019 by Paul Trainer

Food and Makers Market is set to become a weekly feature of Platform at Argyle St Arches as of Sunday 26th May alongside the launch of an additional weekly Vintage Arch, B’s Vintage@Platform, curated by Becc Sanderson, event manager and promoter of Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair and the Vintage Furniture Flea.

Platform has been welcoming over 3000 visitors every weekend for the past year, and since launching the Food and Makers Market on 31st March, the team has seen a rise in the amount of people wanting to shop from local and independent suppliers, sharing the same farm to fork ethos that is at the core of Platform’s values.  And now, with B’s Vintage @Platform coming under the umbrella, Platform Market can extend that ethos to tackling fast fashion

Platform commented: “The traders at Platform have been coming together to support each other, Box Office Pizza, based downstairs with Thomson’s Coffee, use mozzarella from The Keddar Cheese Co and the market has been a great way to introduce the street food traders and restaurants of Glasgow to new, local suppliers within an iconic venue that means so much to the city.”

“The market has attracted a variety of traders since the launch weekend with some opting to make themselves a regular feature, showcasing some of the best locally sourced artisan food, drinks, designers, arts and crafts between the Farmers Market and the Makers & Curators Quarter.  The team behind Platform envisage the selection of vintage fashion and furniture traders doing the same, helping establish a regular weekly vintage market filled with quality and affordable vintage collectibles.”

“This is a unique opportunity to continue to change the way the people of Scotland shop, making them think about where their money goes and where the produce comes from.”

“Our aim is to create a weekly event at Platform that brings the greater community of Glasgow together, helping to create a sense of place for the many independent traders our country has to offer.   The market has an array of unique traders that most definitely will appeal to the wide and interesting range of people you find in Glasgow and it’s surrounds. Whether you want local produce, a rare retro find or unique artwork, Platform has it all and we aim to create a new shopping experience, that has been working down south in places like London Borough Market for many years, to the heart of our city.”
