The Merchant City Festival brings together some of the best of Scottish and international art and entertainment with a programme of street arts, music and theatre. Events across the nine days of the programme also include film, comedy, dance and fashion, with events for children and family activities. There will also be food and drink stalls set up alongside the performance spaces.
The festival takes place from Saturday 22nd to Sunday 30th July. A carnival celebrating Glasgow’s history, heritage and archaeology will kick off events on the 22nd with more than 300 performers taking part.
The carnival will leave from Cathedral Square and making its way to Merchant City with groups from across Glasgow, as well as international performers joining the procession.
The Street Band Encontro will be staging performances throughout Saturday and Sunday and will play a special one-off performance on Saturday night at the Old Fruitmarket.

From street theatre just around the next corner to huge set piece performances, the programme is full of opportunity to enjoy this festival routed in the heart of Glasgow’s Cultural quarter.”
