Top Gun is screening at Glasgow IMAX. This is not a drill. The special presentation will be part of a program of Anniversaries at IMAX events during the Glasgow Film Festival.
One of the ultimate movies of the 1980s and the film that marked the arrival of Tom Cruise as a global star, Top Gun is an action-packed, campy, immensely quotable movie that enjoys a strong cult following.
Directed by Tony Scott and produced by legendary 80s film backers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, the story of Tom Cruise’s trainee fighter pilot, codename Maverick, dogfighting Russian MiGs while romancing flight instructor Charlie played by Kelly McGillis was released in 1986. It became a box office smash earning 20 times its budget in ticket receipts.
The festival event on Friday 26th February will celebrate Top Gun’s 30th anniversary. Aliens and Carrie are the other films receiving an outing on the big, big screen as part of the program.
With memorable set-pieces, a charismatic and cocky young Tom Cruise, a killer soundtrack and all the Cold War action you can handle, take the chance to join in the fun and watch Top Gun in the largest possible format.
You can book tickets on the Glasgow Film Festival website.
Time to call Kenny Loggins, you’re ready to enter the Danger Zone.
