Diageo Reserve has announced its top 100 bartenders for World Class GB 2020, with 20 Scottish bartenders reaching the next stage of the prestigious competition. Local talent from Kelvingrove Cafe, The Finnieston, The Gate and Crescent bar will now join bartenders from across the country to compete in the annual mixologist contest.
The chosen competitors have until 6 th April to submit their next entry online ahead of the in-bar judging stage.
The top 100 bartenders are now invited to submit a Ketel One ‘One Square Mile’ serve. This module encourages competitors to think about community, local enterprise and environmental responsibility and asks them to utilise producers, growers and manufacturers within a one-mile radius of their bar.
During the in-bar judging round, the top 100 bartenders will be shortlisted to 20 ahead of the GB World Class Bartender of the Year 2020 final. The overall winner will then travel to Sydney, Australia to represent GB at the Diageo Reserve World Class Global Final 2020.
The Diageo Reserve World Class Global Final 2019 was held at SWG3 in Glasgow last September and saw bartenders from across the world descend on the city. The competition also partnered with Glasgow Cocktail Week for a week-long celebration of mixology.
