Glasgow has been named the second best city in the UK by readers of international travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller. Their annual Readers’ Choice Awards evaluate the best hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas, tour operators, villas, airlines, airports, trains and cruise lines against a set criteria.
Over 240,000 readers submitted responses which rated their travel experiences and the places they can’t wait to return to.
Glasgow ranked number two in the country, while Cambridge secured first place.
The magazine says, ”this buzzy city has made the list for the fifth year in a row, beating neighbour and rival Edinburgh in 2022’s list”. Among things it recommends doing in the city are cycling to Pollok Country Park, walking along the River Kelvin in the West End, lunchtime theatre at Oran Mor, gigs at the Barrowland, cafes of Pollokshaws Road and record shops like Monorail.
In third place was London, with Edinburgh fourth, Cardiff fifth and Manchester sixth.
Liverpool was named as seventh best city in the UK, Belfast was eighth, the ninth place was awarded to Bath and Oxford completed the top 10.
