Glasgow School of Art has made a list of Scotland’s most well-known man-made wonders. The school is housed in one of Glasgow’s most famous buildings, often considered the masterpiece of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It was built between 1897 and 1909. It was known by a quarter of those surveyed for the UK wide study by VisitScotland.
Other local buildings that were mentioned in the survey were the Glasgow Riverside Museum and the Armadillo. Elsewhere, it was Edinburgh Castle, Forth Bridge, the Scottish Parliament, Stirling Castle and the Caledonian Canal that topped the list.

The research was commissioned by VisitScotland to mark its 2016 year of Innovation, Architecture and Design.
