Glasgow’s world-renowned music scene is beloved by locals and tourists alike, and even has a few songs dedicated to the city itself, and now a new #LoveGlasgow campaign is encouraging visitors to support local venues and catch some of the biggest and best stars in the world in their own city.
The city is home to iconic venues including King Tut’s, the Barrowland Ballroom and one of the world’s best arenas – The OVO Hydro, meaning Glaswegians have access to some of the biggest acts in the world, right on their doorstep.

- Hometown Heroes
King Tut’s is world renowned for breaking some of the biggest acts in the world and it’s still the best place in town to spot rising stars and future headliners. Spot your favourite act on the hallowed King Tut’s stairs which detail some of the huge acts who have played over the years – from The Killers to Paolo Nutini.
This spring, if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to Rianne Downey’s sold out King Tut’s show on 25th March, you’ll witness one of Scotland’s most exciting rising stars take to the stage. From busking on the streets of Glasgow to headlining the city’s famous King Tut’s – Rianne is one to watch.
Snap up last remaining tickets for Berwyn’s King Tut’s show on 14th March – the rapper, singer, songwriter and producer has been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and his headline show at the city centre venue is not to be missed.
- Glasgow or Nashville…
One of the city’s favourite events, it’s the return of Country to Country from 10th – 12th March at the OVO Hydro with huge country stars including Zac Brown Band, Thomas Rhett and Lady Antebellum all set to bring a taste of Nashville to the city centre.
As well as the big stars, Country to Country also offers fans a chance to see groundbreaking new artists on their Spotlight Stage, or head along to King Tut’s on the afternoon of 10th March for a C2C opening party, hosted by Edith Bowman in partnership with BBC Radio 2, to kick off proceedings.
- Superstar Singalongs
The city’s award-winning, 14,000 capacity OVO Hydro has played host to some of the biggest international stars in recent years and this spring is no different. With upcoming shows including Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy on 31st March, American rockstars Paramore on 17th April and British superstar Sam Smith on 22nd April, the Hydro’s busy schedule will keep fans dancing the night away.
Make a night of it and visit the Finnieston strip before a gig for the buzziest bars in town including Glasgow mainstays The Finnieston, Kelvingrove Cafe or Radisson Red’s Sky Bar.
- Sauchiehall Street Sessions
The city’s famous Sauchiehall Street has long been the place to spot up and coming music stars, and visitors to the city are spoiled for choice with gigs at venues like Nice n Sleazy, Broadcast and The Garage.
Check out American singer-songwriter Joshua Radin at Broadcast on 15th April, or Edinburgh indie-rockers Retro Video Club at The Garage on 31st March.
- Explore the city
A perfect excuse to cram as much music into one day as possible, check out the Stag and Dagger Festival on 30th April in Glasgow, taking place in venues only minutes away from each other on Sauchiehall Street. One ticket gets you access to every venue and with the likes of Black Lips, Swim School, Alice Glass and more playing – it’s a must for any music fan!
