Makar Cherry Gin has been created by infusing ripe, seasonal fresh cherries and a sprinkling of pink peppercorn in Makar’s Original Dry Gin, before being pressed to release maximum flavour.
Glasgowist tasted the award-winning gin last Friday at the Glasgow Distillery off Hillington Road where every bottle is made in a remarkable facility, staffed by young, committed distillers. It is bottled at 40% ABV and is available to buy via the Glasgow Distillery Company website.
Mike Hayward, Co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery Company, the distillery behind Makar Gin, said tonight: “We are absolutely thrilled that Makar Cherry Gin has been recognised as The World’s Best Flavoured Gin, especially considering the amount of fierce competition in this category.
From the outset, our intention was to create a fruity flavoured Makar expression without sacrificing the taste and superior quality of our juniper-led gin, which has become the cornerstone of the Makar brand.
“Makar Cherry Gin is a recent addition to the Makar family, so to be recognised with such a prestigious industry award on an international stage, is an extremely proud moment for us.”
Makar Cherry Gin is available to buy from the Glasgow Distillery website for £25. You can also book a tour of the distillery to learn more about the process and their local whisky making.
