It started with a speakeasy bar at Tabac in the city centre before emerging as an independent drinks brand. Now founder Paul Crawford will take his vegan cocktail to BBC’s Dragon Den television show.
The “panther square go with the dragons” will screen this Thursday. Long term partner bar Bananamoon on Great Western Road will screen the episode at a special celebration for invited guests: ”tune in to see if we are shaking paws or drawing claws” Panther Milk say.
Paul was a co-owner of Sub Club and used to travel to Barcelona to run dance music events. ”One night, one of the club owners took me to a bar in the Gothic Quarter where they sold this amazing, milky, sweet, boozy concoction that they called ‘Leche De Pantera’ or Panther Milk” he says.
He decided to open a pop up bar in Glasgow that only sold Panther Milk and it was an immediate hit.
“Traditionally in Spain, it’s made with milk, condensed milk, rum, gin and brandy.
“We use oat milk instead because we want to be as sustainable as possible and then we have a range of different flavours like chocolate, mint, banana or strawberry.”
Paul was made redundant from a tech comp during lockdown and decided to focus his attention on the drink brand.
The bottle has appeared in some of the city’s most stylish bars, they have had a a presence at music festivals and built their online business, working with Dark Art Drinks in Shawlands.
