News of further progress in the lifting of lockdown restrictions today. Gyms, swimming pools and indoor sports courts will be able to reopen from 31st August, Nicola Sturgeon announced to the Scottish Parliament.
The first minister told Holyrood she was bringing forward the reopening of the facilities, which were previously expected to open on 14th September.
She said it meant people aged 12 and over could take part in non-contact activity in places such as dance and gymnastics studios. More restrictions are up for review on 14th September.
Sports stadiums, theatres and live music venues could be reopened with social distancing, limits on capacity and enhanced hygiene.
Other areas that are up for consideration in September include outdoor contact sports for all ages, driving lessons and face-to-face advice services. Weddings, civil partnerships and funerals could also have ther limit of attendees changed.
The first minister stressed progress would be monitored and any future changes would be subject to review.
