Something for the weekend. There’s been a bit of stooshie following the reveal that Carling saved millions of pounds in taxes by reducing the ABV of their beer to 3.7% instead of the 4% printed on their packaging. The English lager has since faced a backlash from consumers and Tennent’s have decided to offer a solution.
By bringing a can of Carling to select bars throughout Scotland, people can swap for a ‘Refreshingly Accurate’ 4% ABV pint of Glasgow;s Tennent’s Lager. The Tiki bar at 214 Bath Street are taking part in the amnesty between 12noon and 5pm tomorrow, Saturday 9th September.
Alan McGarrie, Head of UK Brand Marketing at Tennent’s Lager told Glasgowist: “Tennent’s is Here to Serve and that means we brew what we say we brew and our drinkers always know where they stand. Those who’ve been short-changed are rightly annoyed but our amnesty will hopefully get rid of an y bitter after-taste. After all, Honest T is always the best policy.”
