Hailing from Ruchazie in Glasgow, he stepped onto the stage, earned a rousing reception from the crowd for his novel rendition of The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be, and won the Golden Buzzer pass from the notoriously stingy Simon Cowell himself. McKee simply replied, “I’m going to show you today.”

The 29-year-old singer from Glasgow has been cutting his teeth as the resident entertainer over on the east coast of Scotland, near Dunbar. Here, he’s worked as the entertainment manager at Thurston Manor Leisure Park. In hosting bingo, karaoke, cabaret, and games nights, he said that sometimes he’ll perform to one table and sometimes to ten. Around his day job, McKee would also take to the stage at local festivals.
Dunbar is about an hour-and-a-half away from McKee’s native Glasgow, while the leisure park itself is slightly to the south, closer to Innerwick. Still, Dunbar’s the main place to be along this part of Scotland’s eastern shore. Here, visitors can stroll around the famed Dunbar Castle and go to a whole host of amusement venues and parks. One of the most popular activities that’s sprung up of late is hiking with alpacas and highland cows.
Vinnie McKee might just be Scotland’s next singing sensation. The semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent 2025 start on 26 April, with the grand final being aired live on 31 May. Fingers crossed that the former bingo caller is there at the end of May!
