Glasgow Film Festival will host the UK premiere of Creation Stories. Written by Irvine Welsh and starring Ewen Bremner, the film charts the rise of the founder of Creation Records, Alan McGee, as he goes from growing up in Glasgow to managing era-defining bands including Oasis, Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine. Trainspotting director Danny Boyle was exeutive producer on the project.

Directed by Nick Moran, the cast includes Jason Isaacs, Suki Waterhouse and Rebecca Root. The announcement of the online premiere included the news that the film will be available on Sky Cinema from 20 March.
The film includes scenes based on McGee’s early management of The Jesus and Mary Chain, his friendship with Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie and the moment he signed Oasis after seeing them perform at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in 1993.
Originally planned as a hybrid in-cinema and online festival, GFF21 will now take place online only, due to the lockdown restrictions affecting most of Scotland and the rest of the UK.
The festival will open on Wednesday 24 February with Lee Isaac Chung’s autobiographical drama following a Korean-American family Minari, starring The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun,and close on Sunday 7 March with Suzanne Lindon’s debut feature Spring Blossom, a coming-of-age tale set against a dreamy Parisian backdrop.

Glasgow Film’s streaming site, launched last year to provide a curated offering of titles available to watch online. It is free to create an account and users can pre-order the GFF21 premieres they want to watch during the festival.
