The organisers behind La Cheetah Club, which runs below Max’s Bar on Queen Street, will open a new, venue on Nelson Mandela Place. Launch events will feature Optimo’s JD Switch and Moodymann. the new club called Room 2 will open on 1st March.
Room 2 will be a larger space with a stage space for gig events.
The club promises a “state-of-the-art soundsystem alongside a fully modular stage and lighting setup (including a large customisable LED screen),” and describes itself as “a basement venue kitted out with top-end sound and lighting, with a focus on diverse programming and nurturing its community.” The space was previously a club called Chambre 69, which closed in 2013.
The opening programme for Room 2 sees JD Twitch, Sofay, Ribeka, Moodymann and The Burrell Connection appear there in March. There will also be club nights hosted by Magic City and Animal Farm.
