Lewis Capaldi has marked another milestone in his career, by opening the first of two back to back sold out nights at Summer Sessions in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. With the sun shining and the scene set, the singing sensation from Bathgate took to the stage opening with mega-hit ‘Grace’, complete with confetti canons.
Following a weekend which saw Primal Scream and Johnny Marr deliver outstanding sets on Saturday night and Glasgow synth-pop trio CHVRCHES bring an incredible show to the Gardens, it was time for Lewis Capaldi to make his Summer Sessions debut.
Mixing his catchy melodies with his now well-known banter, the young singer-songwriter joked with the crowd saying, “For anyone who hasn’t seen me before, I will ask you a simple question – do you like rock’n’roll? Well I’m not going to play any! If you like sad songs, you’re in for a treat.” Playing crowd favourites including ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong’, ‘Bruises’ and ‘Hollywood’, Capaldi had the crowd in the palm of his hands all the way.
There was support in front of a sold out crowd from The Snuts, Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves and Indigo Velvet.
