Up-and-coming Bathgate band Luke La Volpe has been chosen from dozens of entries to open the show at ‘Goose Island presents Tom Grennan’ in front of a sold-out crowd this Thursday night at St Luke’s.
A panel including Tom himself sifted through an array of Scottish bands and singers who applied for the opportunity, to arrive at Luke La Volpe to open the show at the first Goose Island gig north of the border, which also features Dundee star Be Charlotte.
Tom Grennan said: “Thanks to all the bands and singers that applied to play the opening slot and especially to Luke La Volpe, Ophelia Lies and Parliamo who made the shortlist. I’m really excited to tell you that Luke La Volpe will be opening the show. You’re gonna love them. See you all at St Luke’s for some Goose Island Grennan’s Beer.”
Luke said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to have been chosen for the gig. Me and the boys have been working hard for the last two years to gain opportunities like this. We would like to thank Tom for taking the time to listen to us and we’ll be sure to blow the roof off the place.”

Bringing his live show to the St. Luke’s is a special show for Tom where he will unveil a beer he has personally brewed with Goose Island’s master brewer in the Goose Island Brewpub in Shoreditch, London.
“Grennan’s is a Rice lager (5.0% ABV) which is dry, crisp and highly drinkable. Using a blend of high quality pilsner malt and flaked rice, the beer has an extremely light body with subtle notes of bread and honey. The lager is lightly hopped with a mix of noble hops for a restrained bitterness and a subtle floral aroma. Easy drinking and clean” the tasting notes say.
The show tomorrow will take place on National IPA Day and music and beer fans will have the opportunity to sample different, sessionable IPA’s, such as Goose IPA and Midway Sessions IPA which will be on tap.
Dundee’s Be Charlotte is an artist fast-tracked for success, having signed a major label deal with Columbia Records, home to Beyonce and Adele. Her remarkable songwriting talent, a knack for sweeping melodies and a fierce sense of identity and self-worth are driven by her quiet, yet determined personality and her glimmering pop songs, anthemic beats and immediate vocals.
