At the Calton Entry road into the Barras Market, there’s been a period of innovation and change that is unusual for this part of town, somewhere that things tend to stay the same.
Phase one was the building of a new structure, constructed from shipping containers, that’s an expanded creative hub bringing new projects into the East End.
Then the Barras Art and Design building became home to A’Challtainn Fish Restaurant and Bar, an award-winning dining destination with a growing reputation.
It shares a space that’s a venue for community events or gigs. Between the two buildings is The Backyard, an outdoor area for vintage markets, art exhibitions, pop up shops, street food markets and whatever else you can imagine.
The team behind these interesting developments are not quite done yet. Word reaches us that Magnificent 7 will be a new addition to the burgeoning creative quarter.
Expect a pizza joint where there are 7 pizzas on the menu, all £7 each, available 7 days a week.
