Mogwai have gone from bombastic post-rock wideos to elder statesmen of creative Scotland over the last two decades. The next stage of the band’s evolution will be without guitarist John Cummings, who has left to focus on other projects.
Cummings joined Mogwai shortly after they were formed in 1995, emerging from Glasgow indie label Chemikal Underground.
In a statement, the band said:
“We are sad to announce that John Cummings has decided to leave Mogwai to pursue his own musical projects.
We will continue as a four piece of Dominic Aitchison, Stuart Braithwaite, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns and shall be joined on our upcoming live shows by Scott Paterson and Luke Sutherland.
We wish John all the best with the future.”
Mogwai will continue with band members Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns.
