We asked Claire to take us through some of her favourite parts of Glasgow.
What do you like best about Glasgow?
The people. They don’t say People Make Glasgow for nothing. I love the City of Glasgow College building with the slogan across it, it really stands out.
Best outdoors space?
Glasgow Botanic Gardens, it’s such a beautiful area. There’s nothing better than heading down there on a gorgeous summer evening for a walk, some people watching or catching one of the Shakespeare plays at Bard in the Botanics.
Best restaurant right now?
For me, Italian food is my most favourite! I could eat it everyday and not get bored of it. At the moment, I am torn between two. Osteria del Tempo Perso in Merchant City – the food here is so authentic and so delicious. The service is also amazing, the waiters are so friendly.
I also love Paesano Pizza. Best pizza in Glasgow in my opinion.
Where do you like to pick up ingredients for cooking?
I tend just to shop at supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda, as they are convenient. I’m never out Tesco on Sauchiehall Street for ingredients for some mid-week dinners.
Where would you meet us for a coffee?
I really like Riverhill Coffee Bar – coffee is so tasty and the cakes are delish. Just check out how good they look on my Instagram.
Where do you shop for clothes?
I mainly shop in New Look or River Island – Glasgow has the best shopping area. I love Buchanan Street, not only is the architecture amazing on this street but all the good shops are pretty much on the one stretch.
Glasgow needs more?
Gluten free options. Although many more restaurants are offering gluten free, there are still limited on options…
Favourite Glasgow building?
City Chambers… The exterior is just so grand and detailed. The interior is also just spectacular. The marble is outstanding, the light and dark marble on opposite sides of the chambers are breathtaking. I recently visited here for a wedding as well as Glasgow Doors Open Day.
Your Glasgow music?
Paulo Nutini. I just love his music. It makes me want to dance wherever I go, and he is amazing live.
Favourite Glasgow neighbourhood?
It has to be the West End. The pubs on Ashton Lane and restaurants like Little Italy and the atmosphere in general. Plus, the parks are all so good. I just love going to the West End.
Your Glasgow hero?
Charles Rennie Mackintosh. He has designed so many amazing buildings in Glasgow. I really love his work and will be making sure that they feature on my Instagram soon.
When you are with friends in Glasgow, what do you like to do?
We like to go out for dinner and a few drinks. Usually always ends up a messy one. Sometimes with us murdering a few classic songs on karaoke…
