The Great Cull are a dynamc five-piece rock band from Glasgow. Their sound is typically blues, rock and metal with a range influences that stretches from the seventies to the present day. For live sets around town they often include a repertoire of covers including songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pearl Jam, the Black Crowes and Neil Young
They write and perform their own music, playing small shows in the Merchant City or occasionally headlining the Oran Mor and supporting sold-out shows at Classic Grand.
We asked lead singer Jamie Marshall to tell us about his favourite places and people in the city.
What do you like best about Glasgow?
There is something on every night. I like the variety and also the fact that you can walk into a bar alone and someone will talk to you.
Best outdoors space?
I love The Ark pub beer garden but I used to live right next to Glasgow Green which has some fantastic scenery and is ideal for a mad jog aboot, or a sly tan of cider at midnight next to the fountain.
Best restaurant right now?
I’m a big fan of Amore. I love Italian food. The service is always rapid and the staff are always a good laugh, although I am sure half of them put on the Italian accent and are secretly from Easterhoose.
Where do you like to pick up ingredients for cooking?
Morrison’s at the other end of the trongate.
Where would you meet us for a coffee?
The Blue Chair on High Street
Where do you shop for clothes?
Primark or Mr Ben’s. I like practical and cheap gear.

Favourite Glasgow building?
Not a building but I love the squinty bridge.
Your Glasgow music?
Thrash and death metal are popular the now, but I love the Glasgow grunge and heavy rock scene.
