New art gallery Two Six One opening in Newton Mearns

27th October 2022 by Paul Trainer

Opening tomorrow Studio Two Six One is a new and vibrant creative space designed as communal hub for both professional and amateur artists. Situated in Newton Mearns it will bring a new exhibition space to the area at the Broom Shops. The new gallery is run by local artist and art teacher Karin Hepburn, who has exhibited across West Scotland, locally within Glasgow, and more recently at Pittenweem Arts Festival.

Having studied at Glasgow Art School, Karin is passionate about her vision to promote and nurture local talent, create events for the community and to provide a welcoming space for those to pursue their creative pursuits.

Studio Two Six One will be predominately a Gallery showcasing Scottish Artists and Designers with the work sourced predominantly in Scotland and the UK.

In addition to paintings and limited edition prints, there will be jewellery, ceramics, and fashion textiles.

Karin is launching artist led workshops, art with mindfulness as well as regular community art classes.

Evening and weekend activities will provide an opportunity for masterclasses with guest artists and designers. Learn a new skill. A new hobby or simply join in for the fun! The gallery owner Karin Hepburn also runs Paint & Sip : a step by step painting masterclass for all levels, with a glass of Prosecco thrown in.

The opening mixed show will continue until the end of 2022. The 2023 calendar is now open for artist of the month.
