New click and collect service for Super Market local traders

19th June 2020 by Jack Dempsey

Super Market Events usually hosts bustling market days all over Glasgow to link the public with best independent retailers. Since the spread of COVID-19 all market events have been cancelled.

Scotland’s tourism businesses, including museums and cultural spaces, have been advised to prepare to reopen on 15th July – tourism Secretary Fergus Ewing said the date was conditional on moving to the third phase of the route map for easing lockdown restrictions.

With this news Super Market Events is hopeful their next event at Glasgow Tramway will go ahead in Mid-August however major changes will need to be put in place to follow government guidelines and protect traders, staff and visitors.

In response to this, Super Market Events have launched a creative way fans can still enjoy the market experience and support independent retailers all while staying safe – a Click & Collect service.

From mid-July shoppers can visit the Super Market website to browse the products of stalls at the market – plus many more small businesses – to fill their Super Market Shopping bag.

Purchases can either be collected at the Tramway market or posted to them after the market date.

Shoppers are also invited to browse the stalls at the event whilst also adhering to social distancing. There will be exclusive products, discounts and giveaways all available through Super Market Click & Collect.

Kelly Conway from Super Market events comments: ’This is a great way for people to still enjoy the market experience and shop with their favourite small, local businesses, as well as find new products while also supporting Super Market to create events which are suitable for a post Covid-19 environment. We will put in a number of new policies to ensure everyone stays safe at our events but this will inevitably mean less stalls and less visitors at one time.

“With Click & Collect people can do the main part of their shop online before they arrive which will reduce the time within the space and also give those who do not yet feel comfortable in visiting the market the chance to still take part – shoppers can also have their click & collect orders delivered to them. The way this differs from the usual online market is it still has that community market feeling, people can still visit the market if time and space allows it and it reduces postal charges massively – so savings all round. We really hope this provide a new way of us creating fun and exciting market events for Glasgow in a post Covid-19 world”.

Scottish based businesses are welcome to join in with Super Market Click & Collect. They do not have to be current Super Market traders to take part.
