Cinema in Glasgow is booming. A night at the pictures remains a ferociously popular choice for entertainment. After a couple of years of exhaustive testing, we believe Odeon Luxe Glasgow Quay’s premium experience is the best in the city. Katy Perry agrees, by the way, she popped in not that long ago.
There’s only 24 European Odeon Luxe sites up and running. Glasgow was one of the first. The idea, in the Netflix age, is that customers will pay for comfort, perfect sound and vision in a communal environment.
It comes at a time when Hollywood is investing in blockbuster movie franchises that are geared towards spectacular set-pieces made for a big screen.
Odeon Luxe Glasgow Quay now has precisely 937 handmade reclining seats across 12 upgraded screens. You get triple the legroom and increased personal space, as well as individual retractable tables, which you can load up with a new menu that continues to expand with more dishes.

There’s also been a complete overhaul of the technology, including a cutting-edge 139-seat iSense screen for an ultra-high-definition cinema experience.
The sound is delivered by 186 new speakers across the auditoriums which really makes a difference. Dolby Surround 7.1 sound is intense.
Carol Welch, managing director of Odeon UK & Ireland, said late last year that investment would be made in the food and drink side of the experience and that’s where the latest element of the upgrade has put this cinema into the Best of Glasgow category.
Gorgeous, calorific and satisfying snacks to share. We recommend hot dogs, mozzarella sticks, nachos and these pototo chip lattices pictured below with lots of dips. All the sweets. Wine and pints at Oscar’s bar in the foyer. If that sounds like your thing, book for your next movie night.
